DAWSON CREEK – There will be plenty to chose from when elections for mayor, councillor and school trustee are held Sept. 8.

The positions have attracted a total of 16 people. Here’s a look at who’s running:

Mayor: Mike Caisley, Wayne Dahlen, Ryan Laughton, Rick Muir, Dick Sequens, David Twombly.

Councillor: Renette Benning, Wayne Bews, Marcheta Leoppky, Brent Neumann, Eloyd Simon.

School trustee: Loren Graham, Wayne Mould, Daniel Przybylski, David Twombly, Lola Wall.

The mayor’s seat became vacant when Blair Lekstrom was elected MLA for Peace River South. The councillor’s seat was opened when Mike Caisley resigned to run for mayor.

The school trustee position, for Dawson Creek, was made available when Moon Mah stepped down because of work commitments.

Nomination documents are available for view by the public at city hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The deadline to challenge nominations is Tuesday, August 7, 4 p.m.

There will be an information meeting for candidates at city hall on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 7 p.m. start. This meeting is open to the public.

Meanwhile, starting the week of Aug. 13, the Block News will be running an “Ask the Candidates” feature and we need your help.
