The value of building permits in Dawson Creek is on the rise. Some 40 permits worth a total taxable value of about $6.4 million have been issued so far this year, compared to $4.1 million for the same period last year. Mayor Blair Lekstrom said the increase shows that the city is on the way to reaching a goal of $10 million by the end of the year.
Demolition bylaw: A bylaw to demolish a building at 813-103 Ave. was given three readings after building inspector Greg Dobrowolski found it to be unsafe due to structural deterioration. Once the bylaw is adopted, the owners have 30 days to either demolish the building or come up with an alternative that is agreeable to council. If nothing is done by the deadline, the city will demolish the structure at the owner’s expense.
Land sale bylaws: Four land sale bylaws passed three readings for a total sale price of $49,500.
