POUCE COUPE — Bill Gates spreads the wealth to the north as the Pouce Coupe Library becomes the latest recipient of a Gates Foundation grant.
The library will receive a total of $8,080 from the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation which they are putting towards the purchase of a computer terminal.
“We got the cheque last week,” said Emanuel Machado, director on board of trustees at the library. “Even though we already had a quote for the computer, it’s not in place yet.”
The gift came from the Seattle based philanthropist’s Foundation as part of their goal to have the Internet available to everyone.
“We are obviously very grateful,” Machado said but he is not surprised by the money saying the library was a good qualifier.
In addition to the terminal, the library will receive a workstation, printer and Internet connection hardware. The new equipment will give library patrons two terminals to surf the net with. The library hopes more people will come out and explore the World Wide Web.
